SSC JE Cutoff

Staff Selection Commission conducts the Junior Engineer Examination each year. This time the competition will be neck to neck owing to the increased number of candidates. The SSC JE Cutoff will be decided by Staff Selection Commission after the exam result is declared.

In the current post, we will include the inputs of SSC experts in predicting SSC JE Cutoff 2016 so as to give you a rough idea about it.

The final SSC JE Cutoff for all the streams will be decided by Staff Selection Commission. We will try to remain as close to the actual scores as possible by including feedback from experts and previous years’ selected candidates.

Factors that will Impact SSC JE Cutoff

  • The total number of candidates appearing for the Junior Engineering examination.
  • The total number of available seats/vacancies for SSC JE Exam 2016
  • The competition level of the exam and hence the level of difficulty.
  • The overall marking scheme of the SSC JE examination.

 SSC JE Cutoff: Key Points

  • The Junior Engineer Exam Cutoff helps the aspirants who score better marks to move up to the next stage i.e Paper 2 and then finally interview.
  • The Cutoff is applied to all scores in the JE examination. Therefore the concept of Cumulative Cutoff is used.

SSC JE Exam: Tie Breaker Case

In case more than one aspirant scores the same marks in the SSC JE exam, a case of tie breaker is implemented.

The following factors will be considered for a tie breaker case –

  1. Total Marks in the written examination
  2. Marks in Paper 2
  3. Marks in Paper 1
  4. Date of Birth (The candidates who are older in age will be places higher)
  5. Alphabetical order of the first name of the candidates

Note I:  Paper -I and Paper-III for General Engineering, the candidate will be required to attempt only one part i.e. Part-A or Part-B or Part-C as per option given in the application form by the candidate.

In other words, the candidates appearing for the post of Junior Engineer (Civil), Junior Engineer(Quantity Surveying & Contract) should attempt Part A (Civil & Structural) of Paper-I and Paper-II and the candidates appearing for the post of Junior Engineer (Electrical) should attempt Part-B (Electrical) and the candidates appearing for the post of Junior Engineer (Mechanical) should attempt Part C (Mechanical) of Paper-I and Paper II failing which he/she would be awarded zero marks.

Note-II:  Candidates are allowed to bring their own Slide–Rule, Non Programmable Calculator, Logarithm Tables and Steam Table for Paper-II only. They are not allowed to use such aids for Paper-I.

B.  Personality Test (Interview): Personality test will be conducted for 100 marks. Only those candidates who secure at least the minimum qualifying marks in the written examination as may be fixed by the Commission at its discretion, will be eligible to appear in the Interview.
