RRB NTPC Mains 2016 : CBT Stage 2 Exam.

RRB NTPC Mains 2016

This will come as a set back to a lot of aspirants who might want a career in Railways through the RRB NTPC examination –
Speaking on behalf of all the zonal Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), Mr. Anil Kumar Saxena – A Senior Official with the Railways has issued the following statement , “the Railway Boards are not planning to release any other NTPC recruitment notification in the near future. So the candidates selected this time should take RRB NTPC Mains i.e CBT Stage 2 seriously.”
On being asked about the delay in result for stage 1, Mr. Saxena said.” We have 21 zones and each one has to prepare its own list keeping in mind the nine categories and various reservations. So we decided to release it on the same day to avoid any confusion. Result took a lot of time to prepare and releasing it on the same day got it postponed.”

Reasons why RRB NTPC will not be held again soon

  • The number of aspirants who sit for the exam is so voluminous that the Railways find it difficult to manage the exam.
  • Railways saw papers being leaked at various centres during Stage 1 Exam and re-conducting the exam on those centres was a major headache for RRBs.
  • Smoothly conducting RRB NTPC Mains is also a major issue.
  • The recruitment notification for this year’s exam i.e 2016 issued so many vacancies that the Indian Railways does not need to employ candidates through the NTPC route for the next few years.
All those of you who been selected for RRB NTPC Mains i.e CBT Stage 2 are requested to work really hard for RRB NTPC Mains because you will not get this chance for at least the next 3 years.

  • To prevent any discrepancy (including cheating and black listed centes) from conducting RRB NTPC Mains efficiently.
  • To prevent any leakage of software pertaining to RRB NTPC Mains. Special Task Force (STF) had previously found this issue. Hence the zonal Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) had to introduce changes for the improvisation of the system.
  • An official recommendation was given by various zonal RRB Chairpersons to change the pattern for RRB NTPC Mains.

RRB NTPC Mains: Section Wise Preparation

As per the latest RRB NTPC Mains pattern, CBT Stage 2 will consist of three sections – General Awareness, Reasoning & General Intelligence and Arithmetic Ability.

The preparation methodology for these three sections is different.

I will help you with the section wise preparation techniques for RRB NTPC Mains.

General Awareness

  • This is one section of the RRB NTPC Mains Exam that is not taken very seriously by candidates. Most feel that marks can be easily fetched in this section. Now this is true that marks can be scored in the General Awareness Section. However, not easily. You should be quite tactful in preparaing for this section.
  • A good knowledge of both static as well as dynamic affairs is required. I insist that candidates should read a good newspaper daily and make notes out of it. The Hindu is the best newspaper to be followed by RRB NTPC aspirants. Keep revising current affairs daily.
  • Besides a good newspapers, follow magazines like Pratiyogita Darpan, Frontine and Yojana.
  • Score well in this section to have a good score overall.

Reasoning & General Intelligence

  • Prior to the exam, expose yourself to varied topics and keep solving as many problems as you can. Having solved a number of different questions will boost your confidence level. You will not panic in the exam.
  • You will have to master the techniques in solving different questions – be it blood relations or puzzles or direction problems etc.
  • Read questions extremely carefully. Even minor variations in the language of questions asked makes a lot of difference.

Arithmetic Ability

  • If there’s one keyword which defines performance in this section, it is Practice. The more in touch an aspirant is with the numeric concepts, the better it will be for scoring in this section.
  • In case your fundamentals are not very strong, do not worry. Start from scratch. Take R.S Aggarwal’s book on mathematics for Classes VIII, IX and X. Practice, and then move on to higher level books. Make sure you have understand the basics well.
  • Once your basics are clear, include short cuts in solving numeric problems. Short cuts will help you in saving time.
  • Remember all the formulas and their applications by heart.

  • Out of the 54 Lakh students who appeared for RRB NTPC CBT Stage 1 Exam, 3 Lakh students have been shortlisted for RRB NTPC Mains Exam i.e CBT Stage 2.
